Doctor Who Problems

I think that there absolutely needs to be an episode where The Doctor meets Ernest Shackleton.

If you don’t know who Shackleton is, Google “Shackleton Endurance” right this second.

‘Cause Ernest Shackleton is only the biggest BAMF in all of exploration, and possibly in all of history.

He was an Arctic explorer from the early 1900s whose most famous expedition was the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, which Wikipedia describes as an expedition that “failed to accomplish [its] objective, but became recognised instead as an epic of endurance.” If that doesn’t sum up every other episode of Doctor Who ever, I don’t know what does.

The journey attempted the first land crossing ever of Antarctica. Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance, became wedged in the ice of the Weddell Sea, and was eventually crushed between the glacial chunks and sunk. The entire 28-member crew was stranded, and eventually made their way through the Arctic winter by land and by lifeboat, reaching the uninhabitable and unexplored Elephant Island where they were rescued, after surviving months stranded on the hostile continent.

Oh yeah, did I mention that every single member of the crew survived?

Again: If this doesn’t sum up every other episode of Doctor Who ever, I don’t know what does.
